May God rest his soul in peace - Ameen!

Posted by Khushal Khan on January 6th, 2008

I had to rush back to my village on the friday morning when i heard the sudden death of my uncle Omer Hayat Khan, he was above 70 years of age and had no ailment what so ever, he died peacefully in the morning after having his break fast, just how helpless a human being can be at times, i wonder. May God rest his soul in peace, Ameen

My Room:Too early plan for the future!

Posted by Khushal Khan on December 19th, 2007

Dad called today, asking when am going to be home for the Eid, but well the good news is that the construction work on our home in Abbottabad is in full swing now, they just ended up with the first floor and the roof, my bed room according to the map is on the top and is going to be a decent thingy;). Though i hate Abbottabad for no particular reason other than it being a dead city and people sleeping too early and the streets getting empty and dark right after the Isha prayers, well who cares anyways as long as i have my internet connection and the PC where i can spend my time quite well, movies and music in addition to it. Currently am living in the Hostel but 2 years from now i’ll be home most probably cos i will be done with my bachelors in business and so called IT.

Lets see what’s the plan for the room, its going to be custom inshallah and not an ordinary one,i just saw this Home Automation Systems website (see the animations on the right side) that show how one can fully automate there home, i just need a room though;)

Fatmeed Blood Camp: Am finally a blood donor~

Posted by Khushal Khan on December 12th, 2007

Fatmeed Foundation held a Blood Collection camp at the Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar (my uni) today, the idea was from the Social Welfare society in the institute that invited them to hold a free camp. Not all but many students including me gave blood to the only organization in Pakistan that has been saving lives of thousands of people. Other than that i was tempted to give blood today since i have a very rare blood type (i.e O-Negative) and other than that i heard someone say that it improves the skin and wipes out all the pimples off your face in case you get to recover the blood quick, and offcourse Sawaab is another bonus so why stand back?. So i finally am one of the Donor’s.

The other thing i was worried about prior to giving the blood was the apparatus used by them but well it was all clean and sealed stuff, other than the bare hands of the nurse, the Vaporizers and the Herbal Grinders (donno what were they for) all the equipment was sealed new and as clean as one can imagine, and the one thing was the needle didn’t hurt much at all. I hope i get the donated blood re-developed so that it comes into use by some needy person, I wish no one gets to need it but well its life and it is needed.~ So donate to Fatmeed and save a life, afterall who knows you need it tomorrow!

Heroes - The TV Series~

Posted by Khushal Khan on December 8th, 2007

Heroes is an amazing TV series like Prison Break( my all time favorite ) from the NBC, it is a story about some amazing people on the earth who thought they were normal people like others until at some stage of their life they tend to realize they have abilities that makes them special, for instance healing instantly after getting a bruise, flying, painting the future, teleporting oneself to future and stopping the time, hearing the rain from 40 miles, melting the metal when touched etc. These special people than realize how important role they have in saving the humanity while some bad among them like Sylar ( a character ) who learns that by grabbing the brains of such special humans he can take his power continues on killing other special people like him. From what i’ve seen so far in the first 18 episodes of Heroes i thought the Cheerleader’s father (owner of a printer cartridges and paper factory) but in real working for some gang who are on a mission that could lead to a disaster was the main culprit but the more i progressed with watching the series it looks more like his love for his adopted special daughter was way beyond anyone could imagine.

Sorry i am speaking as if you’ve all seen it, anyways if you haven’t done so far so the Season 1 with 23 episodes and Season 2 with 11 episodes have already been aired. Don’t miss to watch it since its a great time killer as well as consisting of a nice story~

GOAL @ Cinepax - Rawalpindi

Posted by Khushal Khan on December 2nd, 2007

It never usually happens that we set out with friends for a long drive but when the mood is alive than all one needs is an excuse to go for one, we setup with a group of friends to go to Rawalpindi right from Peshawar to watch the latest Indian movie Goal on the big screen at Cinepax. All the friends and company am sure would have laughed there @$$ off at we few individuals but it was a great experience for someone like me who never was willing to see the face of cinema, but hearing that this particular cinema was far better than any other ordinary one i never said no.

We went via the recently built Motorway and so the drive was comfort and less time consuming, and the movie itself was pretty entertaining, though am not a very big fan of Indian movies specially but i must say the movie was a piece of great story put together with great actors. GOAL is a must to watch movie i would say and i highly recommend it. We’re all impatient now for the release of the movie “Bee” at that very cinema and we’re surely gonna watch it there. Glad to see some good places to “kill time” though not in our city but the country at least;).

Me and my friend stood the Runner’s up in Dumb Charade @ FAST

Posted by Khushal Khan on November 17th, 2007

And the unprepared gang of my university (Institute of Management Sciences | Peshawar) at the notice of the same day went again to participate in the Maximum Talent Exposure at FAST-NU, in the middle of the FINAL term examination but luckily a weekend, and guess what? We rocked the place again getting 2 runner’s up and one winner’s trophy.

Luckily me and my friend and a side roommate Hissam *DeXter as he is preferred to be called* were forced into the Dumb Charade (A game where one partner is given a situation, name,or a thing to act upon and the other partner has to guess it within a minute) category like a baby being strolled over in a bugaboo and the worst of all right in the middle of the competition and i was like *What the…?* i came here to see a friend, enjoy and watch the show and not to act but the senior on my head had balls to force me and i agreed. Luckily, only 2 teams in the first attempt guessed the correct answer, one of them being me and ma mate and the other one being a team consisting of two twin brothers from FAST. Anyhow in the second round we did gave them tough time cos they guessed 2 extra and so did we but my teammate failed to guess the third while the opponent team did manage to and so we lost in the finals. Doesn’t really matters, you need to be lucky as well, other than that my team mate guessed “King Kong” just within 3 seconds of my act, “Hum Dil Day Chukay Hain Sanam” and “Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan” again within 15 seconds but failed to guess the tougher “A Walk to Remember (Movie)” though the crowd did guessed it some how.

In the other categories, our Drama team showed a spectacular performance by making a drama about the suicide bombing (which in real had a suicide bomb effect) and really forced the entire crowd to applause to there maximum and we won that trophy though the FAST drama was a great comedy as well. Other than that we stood Runner’s up in the Dance competition that was to be in the traditional style “Attanrr”.

Anyhow we came back with 3 Awards and that really meant a lot to a team that went unprepared. And we do plan to carry it on!

Another week off~

Posted by Khushal Khan on November 2nd, 2007

I haven’t been blogging much since the PTCL Guys pissed me off blocking the web server my site is hosted at, anyways life goes on and maybe i shift to another one, till than i’ll not be a regular blogger. The coming Monday my Comprehensive exam starts, though the monthly results are not that bad as compared to the 3rd semester but really need to work hard to maintain a good GPA. What worries me most is the Micro Economics and Advanced Object Oriented Programming, the rest all are easy enough. Will be off for a week or so from now on. Hope to catch up at the Blogosphere after the exams, please keep praying:)

We Won the Video Competition in the campus:)

Posted by Khushal Khan on October 26th, 2007

The students of BCS arranged a Multimedia Video,Photography and Sketching competition in the campus yesterday, the event was very well organized and many students participated in it. Me and my friend Shoaib Anwer who is a very regular viewer and commenter in this blog participated in the Video competition category, we were asked to make a video of maximum 6 minutes duration that conveys a message. Hats off to Shoaib who made a video on the theme “Live to Love” , portraying different scenes shot in Peshawar out side the uni and in the bazaars, some drug related scenes and scenes from the 12th May incident, daily life, smoking, killing etc. In short the theme was to avoid killing and racial discrimination as life is too short , live it to love and not to hate others, the video was than smartly edited and made presentable by the use of softwares like Pinnacle, Ulead and Windows Movie Maker.

The Chief Guest for the competition was Zeeshan Perwez from Zeepar Studios , you all know him right?. We saw many great videos from the fellow university mates and personally thought some were far better than ours because of the advanced use of effects and animations, but the judge had something different in mind, he emphasized more on the concept and execution of the video rather than just the effects. We were glad that we got the first position overall, and yeah, all the credit goes to Shoaib who shot and edited the entire video, the concept also came from him. Thanks to all the classmates who help us shot the rebellious “Kill Rushdi” Scene full of violence.

After the results announcement we had a good discussion with the judge, who gave us some tips on how to make a video better and appealing, and he really appreciated our work.

Three Cheers for Shoaib (Show ON Production) Lolz!

Problems with my ISP

Posted by Khushal Khan on October 25th, 2007

Recently our university management finally gave us our basic need as a hostellite and that is a high-speed internet. Its amazing at the browsing and downloads as its the same internet that Higher Education Commission gave to our campus labs with speed at 2 Mbps, the speed though is amazing and downloads are as fast as one can imagine but at the same time it has several issues. My Blog website won’t open on this, including many other millions of websites are not accessible, not only this but it doesn’t even lets me connect to the FTP of my website causing a delay in my website development that i started a few weeks back prior when i was using the VPTCL. This is really getting annoying since i have to use a proxy website to access my site and am using the proxy at the moment to write this post as well, using a proxy makes it too difficult to post images and other stuff to the posts so its really weird for me.

I tried to ask the Network Admin in my lab to contact the ISP as to what might be the issue, but they are not even sure which isp is it, according to SpeedTest.net it says my ISP is Cyber House, while some of the guys in University say its PERN from HEC with Internet Services provided by PTCL, i called PTCL but they were of no help since they thought i am a PTCL Broadband user… Not sure where to go to and even tried calling the PERN Network Administrator on the phone which he never picked up. I am not sure what to do now but i guess I’ll have to stick to it till i come with an alternative.

speed

Other than that, the overall surfing experience is awesome and downloading is ace… I just downloaded the Season 3 of Prison Break (5 Episodes) easily and really quickly *duh.. don’t think i am mis using it, we have tons of presentations and assignments to prepare since the end of semester is approaching*
