So guess what Federrer got busted, and Maria continues with the glory~

Posted by Khushal Khan on January 27th, 2008

Australian Open Tennis hasn’t been good for Federrer, though he did qualify for the semi finals but the world champion had to face a straight sets loss against the Serbian Novak Djokovic, yesterday while i saw the match it was nothing but Federrer keeping on cursing himself for every shot that went from his racket, he was trying his level best to keep doing his dodge tricks but Djokovic was super freak this time in Federrer’s expertise, he dodged the hell outta him and well Federrer is out. Finals for Men’s singles are tomorrow between Novak Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.

Coming to the Women’s singles Maria Sherapova continued in her style and won the trophy beating the yet another Serbian Anna Ivanovic which i thought was pretty impressive, she was playing well in the first set and i thought she might end up winning the first set but well Maria returned to her real gameplay, the rest of the match i didn’t saw since i had to sleep while it was only 8 am in the morning here.

Update: Djokovic has won the Final of Men’s Singles

Beijing Olympics 2008 - Can the Pakistan Hockey team work wonders?

Posted by Khushal Khan on December 13th, 2007

I know am a bit early to make this post since its nearly a 17 days from now on when the year 2008 starts but well, the only thing i’d be waiting in the 2008 is no not the elections but the Beijing Olympics 2008.
Ok we’ve had bad bad Olympics that past 12 years cos last time i hears someone say our country ever won a medal was back in the Atlanta Olympics in the 90’s. After that its like a big lock on the players of our country, no doubt we don’t have the best of the equipment and the best of what it takes to develop the best players for Olympics caliber of games but our Hockey team was known for the speed of Hassan Sardar, and the Flying Horse Shehnaz Sheikh, after legendary players like them who helped Pakistan win the major events, and not to forget the team of Goal Keeper Manzoor and Shahbaz Sr whose tiring efforts helped us win the World cup 1994 Hockey from the Netherlands, and than since that major victory, the only thing i remember about Pakistan’s achievement in Hockey is either a victory over India or the Azlan Shah Hockey Cup.Why is there a complete full stop now?

Hockey has been the only sport that represents our country as a tough competitor in Olympics and we’ve lost the glory and charm in that very sport, the government should give the most importance to the Pakistan Hockey cos it is the only thing which represents us in Olympics as a team that could go on and even win the gold medal, thank god there’s no cricket in Olympics cos Pakistan is no more the 1992 World Cup Team. Today, while i was sitting biting my nails when suddenly i remembered a year calendar that my father brought years back, it was 1995 i guess, at that time Pakistan was the Winning champion of 4 major sports of the world being Squash, Cricket, Hockey and Snooker, and that calendar highlighted pictures of the captains holding those trophies and cute smiles and i was like wow, what a moment that was. What do we have left? Can we even expect a Medal?

Muhammad Yousuf, ICL and the Pakistan Cricket Board’s “bitch fits”

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 31st, 2007

I was listening to GEO news, infact it was not intentional but the newscaster speaks so loud that i end up listening to there bullshit (cos they exaggerate alot) news mostly even while i am on my PC. The news said that Muhammad Yousaf (probably one of the best Pakistani Middle-Order Batsman) joined the ICL (Indian Cricket League) just for a few cents, according to the news this was stated by the Dr.Naseem Ashraf. Now Muhammad Yousaf, ICL and Dr.Naseem all have three different stories, lets get to each of them.

Muhammad Yousaf is/was the best batsman like the former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and has always been a major key in the Pakistani cricket team providing extra-ordinary performances in the batting line-up, i have to disagree somehow that he is a good fielder but regardless of all the ups and downs the Pakistani Cricket team faced during his period as a player, he has been a solid back-bone of the Pakistani Cricket team batting line-up. Now it all started when the squad for the upcoming Twenty-20 World cup was announced to all and everybody’s surprise Muhammad Yousuf as well as the Innocent-King Abdul Razzaq were dropped. Although many are of the opinion that M.Yousaf is not made for Twenty-20 type of Cricket (i might agree) but dropping him from the selection was far too much of an injustice you could do with a very senior and most reputable/reliable player. Holy shit, is this really justified? And not to forget to mention that M.Yousaf is a nominee in the 3 Categories in the ICC Awards coming soon.
ICL (Indian Cricket League) is a league of cricketers mostly retired cricketers and functions the same way as is English or Italian Premier League in the Football. Backed up by Kepil Dev and a few top-notch Businessmen of India as well as other agencies this league was set up to start and once decided upon it started inviting cricketers (retired/in-team) from various teams of the world including Pakistan. At first the Indian Cricket Board strongly opposed such a league and than following shortly the Pakistan Cricket Board too strongly reacted against the league and stated that any player who decides to play the league shall have to quit playing for the country permanently. I don’t understand a single valid point behind that, I am totally in favor of the league since it is providing the retired/in-team players chances to represent themself and their countries as well as earn some good cash out of it. Besides the terms of the league are so simple and easy going as well as attractive that not many people should reject there offers, they pay as much as in multiple millions, the players are free to leave if called up by there country etc etc. Now when such a league can exist in Football and also in the Cricket in the form of County Cricket, why not Indian Cricket League? Besides i think Indian Cricket League is a big milestone not only for the players but Cricket as a game since more cricket is to be played as a result of it worldwide. Now coming to Muhammad Yousuf’s link with it, after being dropped by the team management and declared un-fit for a Twenty-20 squad do you think he doesn’t even have the right to play Cricket at his will, besides earning there living is another story since Pakistan Cricket Board however is not the richest of the Boards and does not provide the Cricketers as much as exposure and allowances as much as the other boards do.So in my opinion he has the right and the PCB should let him play provided that on requirement he comes back to play for the country.

Dr.Naseem Ashraf the current Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman has a very interesting background and story, despite the fact that he is a talented individual but by profession he is a Doctor(not sure a PhD or a Medical Doctor but i heard he is a Medical Doctor) and also acting as the Chairman of the NCHD(National Commission for Human Development) who i remember collected millions of rupees in the name of Human Development projects and established offices but so far in the past 3-4 years nothing fruitful has come out from there hands but thats another story, coming to Cricket,Dr.Naseem Ashraf was appointed(many said “Self Appointed”) as an honorary Chairman of the PCB due to his great skills ( his great social circle in US that includes Senators and Ministers in the US parliament ) and the concerned authorities thought to get this Jewel to get the Jewels from the US government, unluckily Dr.Sahab could not even arrange for a single meeting with his so called social circle, but that’s something not related, what bothers me is the way he comments on the happenings in the Cricket world, I mean for god sake gimme a break how the hell in god’s name does a Doctor understand cricket issues and the game cricket itself better than the Cricketers? I mean for god sake we have many great players like Haroon Rasheed,Zaheer Abbas,Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram who can be the Chairman, at-least trying is not bad??? Anyways, one thing Dr.Sahab is worth to be praised for is that he is not paid a single penny for the PCB Chairmanship (who knows if he takes cents in a 20-figure ?)
This is the current scenario, and the situation in the Pakistan Cricket, I wish all best of luck for the Twenty-20 squad of Pakistan Cricket team and hope they win.~

Federer’s 5th consecutive win but someone else impressed me too!

Posted by Khushal Khan on July 9th, 2007

Roger Federer @ Funbie: Khushal's thoughts! Images by Eurosport Yahoo! As usual since the past 5 consecutive years and its been no more a thrilling topic to blog about when Roger Federer wins the the most prestigious Tennis title that is Wimbledon. Jokes apart, as in the news i saw Federer played really well against his usual rival Rafael Nadal winning the final match 7-6 (9-7),4-6,7-6 (7-3),2-6,6-2 to grab the Wimbledon Tennis 2007 Trophy consecutively for the fifth time (i am sure the trophy is enjoying his company a lot). Federer played well and so did Nadal but end of the story Federer played much better than Nadal and won the title, finish!.

Richard Gasquet @ Funbie: Khushal's thoughts!

But this Wimbledon showed me at least a new revolutionary tennis star who emphasized the most on his back hand and damn you missed the real tennis play if you din watch the semi finals between Richard Gasquet ( a french emerging as they say but he is emerged tennis star) and Andy Roddick (an american tennis super star). That was one hell of a match to watch and i could not believe my eyes everytime a back hand stroke was played by Gasquet and Roddick would just look at the ball with *i wish i could reach you* eyes.Though Gasquet couldn’t manage to reach over to the finals as he was defeated in the semi finals but i see a real talent in the fellow and am sure he is going to work wonders in the future of Tennis. Gasquet you had me as your fan;).

Heal on the bruised Pakistani Cricket fans!

Posted by Khushal Khan on May 19th, 2007

It didn’t took Pakistan long to win the hearts of the emotional Pakistani cricket loving nation after the worst knock out from the World Cup cricket 2007 in the first round. Pakistan played Srilanka today in the Sheikh Zaid Stadium - Abu Dhabi in the first match of the Abu Dhabi ODI series 2007.

I am not going to comment over the match as i seriously was not willing to watch and neither did i spare time for it, but while channel surfing i came through the odds when the conditions were not favorable and it was the time when Pakistan was in crisis with Afridi just in there to bat, and damn how could i miss his batting!. Just as he started, he ended up with 73 from 34 Balls including a 32 runs smashing hitting in a single over. This was a good heal for the bruised Pakistani Cricket Nation. Thanks Afridi

Motorbike passion:(

Posted by Khushal Khan on April 27th, 2007

I always wished to buy a motorbike, since we had a car at home and looking at it again and again since childhood eliminated the desire to have a car, on the other hand motorcycle was something really worth interest for me, i use to see people in my colonies driving them here and having fun, i was like madly in love with them but my father never let me had one, he always insisted that motorbike is nothing but a death game since all the teens of the time if given a motorbike are bound to be doing stunts and wheeling on them thus putting there life at risk. Now that i have grown up and am a university student i can purchase one easily through motorcycle financing myself (without my dad knowing it as i live in hostel) but now the passion and love that i had for this machine is dead.

I really dont want to own a motorbike, infact having a Heavybike with a 1200CC engine is a wish ;) but despite my teenage love for motorbikes i dont want one now, maybe i have grown to my maturity stage or is it maybe that i fear driving it, nah i swear i know how to drive atleast a CD 70, thanks to one of my friends Shahbaz:) but why no more….I dont know!!!

Sporty wear and its applications!

Posted by Khushal Khan on April 24th, 2007

You never knew the other applications of some sporty wears until you really see them and hear what they else can be used for, lolz. For instance while the name says it all, Wrestling Shoes are not only used in the sports of wrestling but a good option for street racing as well, some of my friends even said that they used them in the mid-teenage while riding there bicycle, and good for playing street football with those light balls and they really give a good sprint in athletics as you don’t feel like you are wearing any shoes. Pretty interesting find I must say.

What I like about these shoes is that they are extremely flexible and very light in weight, they just don’t give your legs a feeling that there’s something they have to carry, and off course shoes like these are really worth a buy. According to the big wiki it’s always a good idea to buy them from online stores where they are available in bulk and on sale prices and not comparatively for higher prices like in the sports stores located nearby. The best brand known for this is still Adidas, which is really a big fish when it comes to sporty wear, so if you ever need them just go for online shopping of these and yeah, there is a wide variety of colors and sizes to choose from.

Holidays and Travel

Posted by Khushal Khan on April 19th, 2007

Regardless of the location you are in any part of the world, when it comes to vacations and especially when the summers are near, one should be planning for good vacations, and that can only be achieved by traveling different parts of the world. You just need to have enough finances and a membership from a good vacations club for instance leisure time promotions where the members enjoy great tributes.

Summers are the only days in the year where the entire tourism ministry in different parts of the world like Asia, Europe, and Australia etc are busy welcoming the foreign tourists, but you need to have a good package so that you spend the entire holidays in peace and comfort with no tension.

Many international travel clubs offer these services who take responsibility of your travel services, hotel and resorts reservations etc making things easy for you. So it’s best to be a member of one of such clubs if you ever wanted to be a tourist, else I can assure you that it’s really a tough job to manage things while on a holiday travel in some other country where you have never been before.
