Good-Bye Summers, It was fun~ and i’ll miss you Homie!

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 31st, 2007

Yes, the summers have come to an end for me and while i am blogging this post i have a few more online hours left at my home here since i am going back to Peshawar tomorrow(today though) early morning. I enjoyed the Summers alot and probably had the most tours here and there starting from AJK, Nathiagali,Bhurban,Murree all for weeks and twice and really had fun with friends (although we did had some gid mids and lochas…. but i don’t care much about friends since i care more about what i enjoyed;) *selfish moi but…*. The time i spent at home was also great since it was sleep, good food and hell lot of Internet all time. The best thing about the vacations were that i started working on 2-3 sites and i hope they rock on launch.

Tomorrow i go back to a newly constructed Hostel (not sure about the Internet though i have a VPTCL line for the cause) where i’ll have to first settle up the room with my roommate and than have to adjust in an environment where i am happy but i miss good Food, and FOOD is what matters alot to me:(.

See you from now onwards from Peshawar Blogosphere, Atmosphere, lithosphere and the usual yada yada yada~~~

Muhammad Yousuf, ICL and the Pakistan Cricket Board’s “bitch fits”

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 31st, 2007

I was listening to GEO news, infact it was not intentional but the newscaster speaks so loud that i end up listening to there bullshit (cos they exaggerate alot) news mostly even while i am on my PC. The news said that Muhammad Yousaf (probably one of the best Pakistani Middle-Order Batsman) joined the ICL (Indian Cricket League) just for a few cents, according to the news this was stated by the Dr.Naseem Ashraf. Now Muhammad Yousaf, ICL and Dr.Naseem all have three different stories, lets get to each of them.

Muhammad Yousaf is/was the best batsman like the former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and has always been a major key in the Pakistani cricket team providing extra-ordinary performances in the batting line-up, i have to disagree somehow that he is a good fielder but regardless of all the ups and downs the Pakistani Cricket team faced during his period as a player, he has been a solid back-bone of the Pakistani Cricket team batting line-up. Now it all started when the squad for the upcoming Twenty-20 World cup was announced to all and everybody’s surprise Muhammad Yousuf as well as the Innocent-King Abdul Razzaq were dropped. Although many are of the opinion that M.Yousaf is not made for Twenty-20 type of Cricket (i might agree) but dropping him from the selection was far too much of an injustice you could do with a very senior and most reputable/reliable player. Holy shit, is this really justified? And not to forget to mention that M.Yousaf is a nominee in the 3 Categories in the ICC Awards coming soon.
ICL (Indian Cricket League) is a league of cricketers mostly retired cricketers and functions the same way as is English or Italian Premier League in the Football. Backed up by Kepil Dev and a few top-notch Businessmen of India as well as other agencies this league was set up to start and once decided upon it started inviting cricketers (retired/in-team) from various teams of the world including Pakistan. At first the Indian Cricket Board strongly opposed such a league and than following shortly the Pakistan Cricket Board too strongly reacted against the league and stated that any player who decides to play the league shall have to quit playing for the country permanently. I don’t understand a single valid point behind that, I am totally in favor of the league since it is providing the retired/in-team players chances to represent themself and their countries as well as earn some good cash out of it. Besides the terms of the league are so simple and easy going as well as attractive that not many people should reject there offers, they pay as much as in multiple millions, the players are free to leave if called up by there country etc etc. Now when such a league can exist in Football and also in the Cricket in the form of County Cricket, why not Indian Cricket League? Besides i think Indian Cricket League is a big milestone not only for the players but Cricket as a game since more cricket is to be played as a result of it worldwide. Now coming to Muhammad Yousuf’s link with it, after being dropped by the team management and declared un-fit for a Twenty-20 squad do you think he doesn’t even have the right to play Cricket at his will, besides earning there living is another story since Pakistan Cricket Board however is not the richest of the Boards and does not provide the Cricketers as much as exposure and allowances as much as the other boards do.So in my opinion he has the right and the PCB should let him play provided that on requirement he comes back to play for the country.

Dr.Naseem Ashraf the current Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman has a very interesting background and story, despite the fact that he is a talented individual but by profession he is a Doctor(not sure a PhD or a Medical Doctor but i heard he is a Medical Doctor) and also acting as the Chairman of the NCHD(National Commission for Human Development) who i remember collected millions of rupees in the name of Human Development projects and established offices but so far in the past 3-4 years nothing fruitful has come out from there hands but thats another story, coming to Cricket,Dr.Naseem Ashraf was appointed(many said “Self Appointed”) as an honorary Chairman of the PCB due to his great skills ( his great social circle in US that includes Senators and Ministers in the US parliament ) and the concerned authorities thought to get this Jewel to get the Jewels from the US government, unluckily Dr.Sahab could not even arrange for a single meeting with his so called social circle, but that’s something not related, what bothers me is the way he comments on the happenings in the Cricket world, I mean for god sake gimme a break how the hell in god’s name does a Doctor understand cricket issues and the game cricket itself better than the Cricketers? I mean for god sake we have many great players like Haroon Rasheed,Zaheer Abbas,Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram who can be the Chairman, at-least trying is not bad??? Anyways, one thing Dr.Sahab is worth to be praised for is that he is not paid a single penny for the PCB Chairmanship (who knows if he takes cents in a 20-figure ?)
This is the current scenario, and the situation in the Pakistan Cricket, I wish all best of luck for the Twenty-20 squad of Pakistan Cricket team and hope they win.~

What to do when the neighbours are assholes!~

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 27th, 2007

My neighbours are really Assholes! I don’t know why i am so much angry today but i had to pen down something here and didn’t thought of a better topic than this. It is said “Neighbours and Guests are a blessing of God, they have Mighty Big Rights”. Yes they do, but someone forgot to mention good neighbours:( .

In the area of Abbottabad, just a few footsteps from the PMA where i live, almost 90% people have car’s in there home, the streets are really thinny and specially our street is as thin as could hardly let go to cars (not big cars) one time. Unfortunately although in a city of Abbottabad its a blessing, the pain is that we got neighbours like Mr.XYZ. Yes!!!, firstly they have a Farm in the middle of Cantonment Residential Area right next to there home that unfortunately lies on the front of our house, although its a really good and clean farm as compared to the ordinary ones but illegal is illegal and the corn that grows there attracts many many billions of flies that bite every part of my body at night when i am in the lounge sitting on the computer and preparing my brains and eyes for damage. Secondly there is not a single day i remember that they parked there cars in the correct place, if you park on the street at least leave room for another car to go but NO, everytime i have to drive out (mostly to bring internet cards or for food) i have to honk the horns for a good 4-5 minutes, this happens daily, i learnt from a movie that when someone is giving you pain pretend that you’re enjoying it. Crap Crap!!! i’ve tried everything, gave smiles to the driver, uncle, etc, even shown my anger pressing the horn continously but these assholes would never park there car in the right place. Not only me and my dad but infact the entire street who have there house afterwards these maracon’s are suffering but everyone is quiet.

I wanna fight, i really wanna fight!!! This is happening since at least more than a year or so when we shifted last year here and don’t know since when are the other neighbours bearing it but no i won’t. I’ve had enough of it, i just came outside facing the same old shit again, having to stand for a good 5 minutes in the sun and the uncle would come out with his half a dozen grand-children giving me smiles, placing the cubs in the car and than taking its ass off my face. We have no relations with these neighbours, its natural since in City’s its a common thing. I don’t even know who live by my left and right but there is one thing i know, if you have no relation than you are ought to keep BAD RELATIONS! Yes,Yes!!! I have only 3 days left here and before going to Peshawar and the hostel i really want to teach them a lesson, although its more a fun controlling them with just the honk of a horn but its certainly not enjoyable.! Give me a good suggestion or i’ll end up showing my EVIL PATHAN!

Show your teeth some love~

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 23rd, 2007

And in the morning it was bleeding again, its bleeding since i started brushing teeth and am not sure when did i started doing that but its an old story, to sum up all, my teeth and gums bleed every time i brush them. I never planned to go to a Dentist and never even thought of going to one since it demands time, appointment and worst of all having to stay up at day time (which 99% i am not). Anyways my teeth were not in my mind till a buddy from a Webmaster Forum popped in on my Yahoo messenger and who happens to be a Dental Student, i thought why not share my teeth issue with him we discussed it a bit and finally i made him agree to write a comprehensive blog post on how to effectively brush your teeth. Here is how you can brush your teeth using Dr.Chetan’s method.

To sum it up,

  • Use a good brush with soft nylon bristles, i suggest one from Oral-B although i used an unbranded toothbrush,
  • Use a good toothpaste, these days the Miswak flavored Colgate is in my use and it has a good fresh feel,
  • Brush Vertically specially the front teeth,
  • Apply less pressure, that is brush gently (*mm mmm can i post a picture of the toothbrushes under my use, they lost there hair due to immense pressure*) :)
  • Do not clean your tongue with the same brush, use tongue-cleaners (I use the same brush, forgive me:( )
  • Do Floss, (* i never knew what was this floss thing till Dr.Awab Alvi (Teeth Maestro) posted about floss facts way back *).
  • Finally, DO BRUSH YOUR TEETH GODDAMMMIT!!!!

Let’s see the comments from other fellows, Dr.Awab i need your comment here;)

My Unforgettable visit to Azad Kashmir~~~ Arrival Day 1

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 21st, 2007

As my summer vacations started we friends from our hostel had already planned to visit somewhere in the start of the vacation, unlike the other friends who went abroad with family to Scotland, Kingston upon Thames, buenos aires in argentina and others who normally stuck to the one top spot of Nathia Gali in the summers we chose a different place, a friend of us Mian Saad had been to a place in Azad Kashmir named as Cutton in Athmakam. Knowing nothing much about the beauty of the place we still planned a visit and one we were there it was like a dream come true.

Prior to going there i already made a post about it here… but since i had no time to write about it i thought i will write it some other time. All of us gathered from different stations i.e Peshawar,Rawalpindi and me from Abbottabad in one place Muzaffarabad from where a hired Jeep took us to the Cutton resort in about 4 hours. We came across many beautiful and heart touchy sceneries on our way while we could clearly see Indian villages from a naked eye and i was like wow *i can see another country*. We stopped in many places being checked by Army and than finally reach the Cutton resort where we were to stay for a week at least.

Cutton Resort: Click to EnlargeThe resort was also one hell of a place to live, unlike a normal hotel or a rest house where you get to live in a room, this resort was unique in its kind, was very cleaned and beautiful and maintained specially for special UN guests and Foreigners (probably that is the one reason why it was so awesome), it was really Cheap and more of a luxury place to live for a week in vacations. We had booked a Suite already , yes this resort has Suites and we got a luxury suite with 3 rooms, with a kitchen, bathroom and a TV Lounge and Dining area.

When we reached there the Sun had already set and it was getting dark, and a bad news that there was no power at that very moment. Tired as we were we took all the stuff out of the jeep, the food items, our bag packs and the rest of the luggage and settled them in one place, so we were all set and this had to be our home for the next 6 days all said. There was nothing else we wanted to do so we ordered the mess guys for dinner giving them the Chicken we brought with us (Yes,food items are sold there but the market is far away and takes nearly hours and we were told its better to bring a big stock of food stuff in different varieties to avoid the pain) and all sat in the TV lounge talking and doing gup shup, within the gup shup we started telling the Ghost stories(some fake ones were told by friends to scare the butt out of emotional and dissolving people like me) and within one stories a friend of mine stood up pretending to go to kitchen while the other was telling us the story and i was fully dissolved in his fake story when the guy who went to kitchen came from the back and said *Bhooot* ,!!! Holy shit i was scared and was really scared but atleast we had a laugh alot, than a friend grabbed the guitar (one of us was a guitar freak) and started playing and i started singing and the others were good listeners and they made video’s in the cell phone in the candle lights~ All well till the power came and the lights switched on, we had the dinner and tired as we were we went to the bed to get some sleep!

End of Day - 1 ( Day 2 coming soon so stick to the blog or Subscribe to our feed )

Orkut’s new features and the BETA Story~

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 20th, 2007

For some of you who happen to read my blog are probably aware of what Orkut is since you come from regions where Orkut like sites are probably most popular than ever, am addicted to it too anyways. Orkut was launched probably 4 years back if am not wrong as a better alternative to Hi5 with its slow loading and poor features and navigation as well as a nearly competitor to the biggy MySpace. Since its launch Orkut has been in the beta phase and still in the beta phase despite the fact that in the past 2 years not much development has been done in its enhancement though it was acquired by Google the year it was made. How it was made is another story, but from what i heard was that a guy named Orkut (His profile is there on Orkut ) and a student at Stanford did the source code of this wonderful social networking website which after being loved by Google as another tool to enhance there web-empire was acquired by it, since than it has grown wonderfully well in the South American countries of Brazil that demographically is the biggest user of it and Souther Asian Countries of Pakistan and India are also among the top 10 users of Orkut. Orkut is as double as popular as the other rival Facebook (another social networking website with extra advanced features) but Orkut’s dominance in the countries is increasing because of the ease of its use. Not to forget MySpace and Facebook are a bit less user friendly despite the fact that Myspace has triple traffic (as per Alexa where Orkut is 8 and MySpace is 6th) and features as much as orkut has but its mainly because of its age and secondly because of the users that mostly are from European countries where average user has basic knowledge at least to modify and customize his/her profile with HTML.

I am not going to get much into details but i just thought to post my views when i saw the new Orkut page although using the same old logo, but not to forget that Orkut recently introduced a similar myspace feature to be able to scrap your friends with Images, gif, glitters etc using HTML codes, although one can’t modify his profile’s look and theme but still something is better than nothing. To some up all, Orkut is still and will be in the beta phase and once its out of the beta we hope to see it go many a miles as much as good as MySpace where its not only a networking site where you can find friends and members but a complete portal with great features like blogs, bands profiles, events, directories , news and a hell big bunch of a lot more.

UPDATE: Maliha said that there are add-ons available that can pimp up your orkut profile but wait, i am already aware of these add-ons that require you to install Greasemonkey (A Firefox add-on) and than you can install the Orkut themes but they appear only to you and only people with Greasemonkey add add-on installed can view them, and i can bet that 99% of Orkut users have never even heard of what a Greasemonkey add-on is. We want customization abilities that can be seen by all. Hope that sums up!~~~

Happy 60th Independence Day to Pakistan!

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 15th, 2007
I am late i know but i had a few reasons other than being too lazy, I want to wish Pakistan a very Happy 60th Independence Day, May this Country lives for ever and we serve it better than what we are at the moment. Lets put a new resolution this year that we’ll try our best to serve our beloved country in the best way possible and bring fame to it. Although we are being ruled by a group of idiots who are more than spoiling the name of this country rather than making it popular but lets just consider it as a test from Allah S.W.T and lets pray that may Allah S.W.T either gives Hidayat to our leaders or give us leaders that truly lead and get along with the system of the country making it one of the best nations on the face of the earth. On a side note, although some people love to celebrate the Independence Day with a truly patriotic soul but some get out of limits and make the celebration more a pain. Lets hope things go all well this year.Pakistan Zindabad and I love my Pakistan!~ (However it is)

Future and Career! Myseries but planned for already…

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 10th, 2007

When it comes to career selection probably an average Pakistani child in the mid school would start with a Pilot,Doctor,Army Officer etcetera forgetting the fact that if every individual is a Doctor than who would the patient be? :) Well that was just an idiot comparison with the brain of a child but anyways if one seriously thinks of what is the future going to be? It becomes a mystery which needs a quick decision and an effective one before its too late to decide to catch any career train. I grew up in an environment where a certain TV drama about Pakistan Army (Alpha Bravo Charlie) made me fell in love with choosing Armed forces as my future career and goal for life, but since my haste to become an officer and going through the Army selection process with a very un-mature mind at that time lead to nothing else but a disaster for my career when both my attempts in ISSB went failed although being re-interviewed in both the attempts but the Psychologists won’t find me fit Psychologically so i was not allowed to be a part of my passion cum future. Sad as i could be but that’s not going to work so i did nothing but chose Business as my future, currently i am studying as a bachelor’s student in IMS Peshawar enrolled in the 4th semester but i am really concerned about my future. My Plans are to go for MBA with majors and specialization in Marketing (i already posted about it here ) but is the current university i am enrolled in enough to hit me to the top notch executives? Am i getting really a high quality education? Well in my city atleast our campus graduates are rocking but that is not my goal, my goals are high! I want to be a 9 - 5 employee with not much load of work on shoulders but working in a good environment where you feel like working less but working effective and productive (Telecom Industry i think is the best option these days), apart from Job an online empire of some websites is also what i would dream to have, this needs some real hard work but will i be able to? I hope i do. Other than that for future pimping the best options a normal Pakistani university student opts for is an international degree   ( http://www.gibbsnj.edu/about.asp ), although i won’t agree to it since many Pakistani institutions are also top-notch but getting in there is a problem for an average student and since i am an average student, an international degree from either of UK, US, Canada,Australia etcetera will always be my priority and it would be an icing on the cake if get a decent scholarship. So the Future and Career are planned for…in my part atleast. Have you done your part?
P.S: This post is to serve as a moral booster if in the future hurdles block my way;) Wish me luck and the best of it;)

Broadband is fun!

Posted by Khushal Khan on August 4th, 2007

Do you know how pissed you are when you want to play the Youtube videos and they wont buffer in hours, you want a song downloaded and it takes hours again to download, you want to have a software but your poor dial-up is too slow to get it to your system?Do you ever wanted to play online games but because your Internet unlike iScsi was too slow to handle the cause? These were a few problems that i’ve always had.To handle the matters there is always DSL or Broadband (High Speed Internet unlike Dial-up) but since my location was not stable, since being a hostel student i am not allowed to own a private Broadband connection (although its too expensive) and at home in vacations i spend most of my time in Hill Stations and away from home so couldn’t really get time to solve the issue. Now that we are going back to Hostels in September,we’ve heard that a Broadband connection will be provided to every hostel student and that is what makes me happy. It will be fun since Broadband is really fun as i’ve used it oftenly in the campus and in my brother’s place.

Now since most of the students in my Hostel are i would call A** Holes with no knowledge of internet other than downloading songs and copy/pasting notes from Google search results, i hope they won’t use it just for downloading songs or streaming hi-fi videos because that is what eats all the bandwidth, lets hope things go well and the university adapts a strict downloading policy, bans porn sites, put on filters on servers and regularly check-up system’s for viruses only than it will be an effective tool for all of us, though i am being more selfish than ever ;) lolz!
